House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that the looming retirements of many of her top lieutenants doesn’t mean she will be leaving soon.

“They go at their pace, I go at mine,” the California Democrat told reporters when asked if she was thinking of calling it quits.

Several reports have predicted the end to the Pelosi era of House Democrats, which began in 2003 when she took over party leadership. In 2007 she became the first female speaker of the House, but has been back in the minority since 2011.

But Mrs. Pelosi said the speculation is without foundation, and said she remains “revved to the task” — particularly when she sees the types of proposals House Republicans are pursuing.
