GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - James Currington scored 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Mississippi Valley State beat Grambling State 75-67 Monday night.

Grambling State (1-17, 0-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference) has now lost 27 straight SWAC games and 44 in a row against Div. I competition.

Thomas Chandler hit a 3 with 17:02 remaining to pull the Tigers within nine before MVSU (8-14, 4-5) used a 9-1 run, sparked by a 3-pointer from Anthony McDonald, to build a 51-34 lead - the Delta Devils’ largest of the game - about 3 minutes later.

After A’Torri Shine and Jeffrey Simmons traded a layup and a jumper, Grambling State used a 9-1 spurt of its own to cut the deficit to 54-45 with just fewer than 11 minutes to go.

The Tigers pulled within five twice in the final 2:12 but went 0 for 5 from the field down the stretch.
