INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Travel conditions are deteriorating across Indiana.

Northern Indiana’s Marshall County issued a travel warning Tuesday evening limiting traffic to emergency workers only. About 30 other counties statewide have issued travel watches and recommend essential traffic only.

In western Indiana’s Vigo County, the Sheriff’s Department said 20 crashes or slide-offs were reported during a two-hour period Tuesday afternoon. It says visibility had been reduced to about an eighth of a mile and the powdery snow was beginning to drift in rural areas.

The National Weather Service predicted 10 inches or more of snow would fall over in parts of the northern half of Indiana, Less snowfall was predicted for the southern half of the state, but ice accumulations also posed a threat there.
