OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy has been named chairwoman of the Financial Research Institute’s Advisory Board.

The FRI is part of the University of Missouri-Columbia’s College of Business. Through its public utility division, it provides a neutral environment for stakeholders in the regulated public utility industry to come together to examine and debate public utility policy.

Murphy says both utility companies and their customers are in a time of unprecedented change. She says long-held business and regulatory models have been affected by a tidal wave of technological innovation, environmental challenges and changes in consumer needs.

Murphy has served on the board for two years. Her term as chairwoman will run through September 2015. Among other things, the board identifies the FRI’s strategic direction and serves as a body of advisers.
