SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Fire officials say a man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a fire in a duplex in Salisbury.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the blaze was reported about 5 a.m. on Patrick Avenue. About 25 firefighters from the Salisbury and Delmar Fire Departments battled the blaze.

Officials say two people were removed unconscious in the home and taken to a local hospital.

The fire marshal says 66-year-old William Holdbrook Jr. died at the hospital. Forty-one-year-old Mary Holdbrook is in critical condition.

Authorities say the fire began in the main bedroom and did $80,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
