CLANTON, Ala. (AP) - Police say a 12-year-old Alabama boy is in custody after being accused of bringing a homemade explosive to school in Chilton County.

The device didn’t go off and no one was hurt. But Clanton Middle School was locked down briefly after authorities found the explosive Friday morning.

A photo released by authorities shows a small Play-Doh container with what appears to be fuses coming out of the lid.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell says the container was packed with gun powder, fireworks, BBs and a fuse that could be used for ignition.

Another student at the middle school reported the explosive, and school officials called police.
