KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A San Francisco law firm is planning an expansion in downtown Kansas City that could bring 100 new jobs to the area over the next five years.

Sedgwick LLP said Friday that its “shared services center” will house employees in information technology, human resources, marketing and financial services.

Sedgwick employs 370 attorneys in offices around the country and in London and Bermuda.

Missouri officials said the new facility is expected to open in June.

Gov. Jay Nixon said in a statement that the firm would invest $4.6 million in its Kansas City operation.

Sedgwick could receive up to $2.9 million of incentives through the state Department of Economic Development.
