FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Officials say a woman and boy pulled from a burning Fort Worth home have died.

Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tom Crow told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/1kosmjf ) Friday that 27-year-old Karla Guajardo-Salazar and a 6-year-old boy, who had not been identified, died after being taken to hospitals from the Thursday night fire.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said Guajardo-Salazar died of smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation.

Crow said a critically injured man was also taken to a burn unit in Dallas. No update on his condition was available Friday.

That man told investigators his wife woke him, screaming that the couch was on fire. Investigators found an electrical malfunction near an outlet behind the couch started the fire.

Firefighters found the woman and child in a bathroom.
