TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Tucson have arrested a 28-year-old man who they say caused a collision that left one man dead.

Sgt. Chris Widmer says Juan M. Hernandez-Rodriguez was booked into Pima County Jail for one count each of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangerment and felony criminal damage.

Authorities say Hernandez-Rodriguez was driving a Chevrolet Impala while under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs early Saturday when he rear-ended a Honda Civic near 6th Avenue and Illinois Street.

Widmer says the male driver of the Honda, which caught fire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He says bystanders of the collision helped pull out a 22-year-old male passenger from the Honda. That passenger is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a 24-year-old passenger riding with Hernandez-Rodriguez only had minor injuries.
