MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been arrested on charges of driving the wrong way while intoxicated.

Suffolk County police say patrol officers responded after receiving several 911 calls about a Honda Civic traveling westbound in the eastbound HOV lane of the Long Island Expressway early Monday morning.

The officers were able to pull over the vehicle between exists 59 and 58 in Medford around 2:30 a.m.

Police charged the driver, 51-year-old Steven Brill of Medford, with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
