ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - A 14-year-old in Atlantic City accused of gunning down a 13-year-old near a school has been placed in a juvenile detention center.
Jerome Ford turned himself in at his lawyer’s office.
Ford is charged with murder in the shooting of Angel Mercado-Santiago.
The seventh-grader had left Pennsylvania Avenue School when there was an altercation and authorities say Ford shot the boy in the chest and abdomen on Wednesday. A 15-year-old was wounded in the leg.
Ford’s lawyer, Joseph Swift, tells The Press of Atlantic City after a complete investigation, it will be clear it was not murder.
