PISMO BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A small plane has crashed in the ocean off of Central California, killing at least one person aboard.

Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says the unidentified plane went down off Pismo Beach at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Tony Cipolla of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department tells KEYT-TV (https://bit.ly/1eHFaNp) that divers found at least one body.

There’s no immediate word on how many people were on board the small plane or where it was heading.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune (https://bit.ly/1kAU8tG ) says witnesses reported to fire officials that they heard an engine noise and loud explosion before the crash.
