LAS VEGAS (AP) - A plea deal may be in the works for an 18-year-old Utah woman facing multiple felony reckless driving and hit-and-run charges alleging she plowed a car through eight pedestrians outside a storefront church in North Las Vegas last summer.

Deputy public defender Ronald Paulson said Tuesday he’s talking with prosecutors about Nyakueth Tear (NEYE’-ah-keth TEER’).

Tear could face decades in prison if she’s convicted in the late Aug. 8 crash outside Iglesia de Cristo on Losee Road.

A 54-year-old man was critically hurt and a pregnant woman was among seven others less seriously injured.

Police say Tear first stopped the vehicle then tried to drive away on the dark industrial street.

She was caught after crashing the car into a piece of construction equipment and running toward Interstate 15.
