Two men were shot, one fatally, in separate incidents Wednesday in the District, D.C. police said.

The fatal shooting occurred in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast around 3:40 p.m. A man was shot at 8th and Yuma streets and taken to a hospital where he later died, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf said.

Officers were on the lookout for a silver car but had no other suspect description.

The second shooting happened about a mile away from the site of the first in the Bellevue neighborhood. Just after 6 p.m., a shooting was reported in the 100 block of Darrington Street Southwest. The victim in that shooting was an adult male who was taken to a hospital in critical condition but expected to survive, Officer Metcalf said.

No lookout was given for the suspect in that shooting.

Investigators have no evidence linking the shoot shootings, Officer Metcalf said.
