LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - A New York woman who claimed she stabbed her boyfriend in self-defense has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Jennifer Marchant faces five to 25 years in prison after being found guilty in Niagara County Court on Wednesday. A jury deliberated for less than two hours.

The 24-year-old told police she stabbed 24-year-old Ralph Stone Jr. once in the chest last year because he was chasing her around their apartment in a drunken rage. The 220-pound victim’s blood-alcohol content was .285 percent, more than three times the legal threshold for drunken driving.

Marchant’s attorney, Dominic Saraceno, told The Buffalo News (https://bit.ly/1gMwg0G ) that he was disadvantaged by New York’s law on self-defense, which requires a person to retreat unless facing deadly physical force.
