IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a New York woman is in custody in Illinois in connection with the slaying of a woman whose body was found inside her suburban Rochester home with her four young children.

Police in the town of Irondequoit (uh-RAHN’-duh-kwoyt) tell local media outlets that 42-year-old Joanne Armour-Christopher is being held in Chicago on fugitive from justice charges. Officials also say second-degree murder charges have been filed against her in Irondequoit.

Police say officers responding to a report of a child crying inside an apartment on Dec. 20 found the body of 26-year-old LaCandice Miles. Officials say her four small children were unharmed in the apartment.

Miles’ death was treated as suspicious at that time. Police haven’t released details on how she was killed.
