MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s Mentoring Partnership is celebrating mentoring around the state with a gathering at the Statehouse.

Wednesday’s event highlights National Mentoring Month and Mobius’ first year as Vermont’s Mentoring Partnership.

A resolution will be read in the Vermont House, where mentor pairs and supporters will be recognized on the House floor.

The theme of this year’s national campaign is “Mentoring Works!,”

Throughout January, Mobius will work with mentoring programs, the Vermont Agency of Education, and supporters from the state government and local foundations, to highlight the benefits that mentoring provides young people. The benefits include improved school and class attendance, better relationships with peers and family members, and a greater sense of connectedness to their schools and communities.
