KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - Police in Kalispell have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of stealing a framed military uniform from a store and trying to pawn a Purple Heart medal.

Officers arrested Sean David Smith on Friday. Jail records indicate he also faces drug and forgery charges.

Greg Smith, the owner of a frame store, said the shadow box containing his late brother’s uniform and medals was taken on Jan. 8. Sean Smith, who is no relation to the store owner, was confirmed as a suspect after surveillance video showed him trying to pawn the Purple Heart.

Two medals were recovered from Sean Smith and police say others were turned in by “anonymous associates” of Smith.

The shadow box, uniform, Bronze Star and Purple Heart were still being sought.
