DOVER, Del. (AP) - Transportation officials in Delaware are pre-treating roadways in anticipation of snow.

The Delaware Department of Transportation said Monday it is pre-treating roadways with a salt and water mixture called brine.

The mixture slows or prevents any accumulation of snow or ice on bridges and roadways.

Officials say motorists should drive carefully and allow extra travel time for Tuesday when snow is expected. The National Weather Service says the state could see snow accumulations of five to nine inches in certain areas.
