KENTWOOD, Mich. (AP) - An Illinois-based real estate business is buying a large industrial building in western Michigan that formerly was used by furniture maker Steelcase Inc.

MLive.com reports (https://bit.ly/1aEm2yx ) that Oak Brook, Ill.-based Franklin Partners LLC says it plans to redevelop the building, possibly for multiple tenants.

The former Steelcase chair plant once employed up to 400 workers. It’s being vacated as part of a corporate restructuring announced three years ago.

The factory sits on 125 acres. Built in the early 1980s, it is one of the first buildings Steelcase put on its Kentwood campus near Grand Rapids.
