AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - State education officials say three of every four high school juniors who took a key round of tests are on track to graduate.

In a statement Tuesday, the Texas Education Agency said about 76 percent of the 309,000 or so students scheduled to graduate in 2015 have passed the end-of-course assessments required by state law for graduation. Under recent legislation, the number of end-of-course assessments students were required to pass was reduced from 15 to five.

The tests were administered last month. The TEA says that of the 24 percent of the students who still must pass all of their required tests need to complete only one more assessment.
