NEW YORK (AP) - New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina (fah-REEN’-yah) has announced that schools will be open on Wednesday.

Farina says all student after-school programs and PSAL games will resume normal schedules. She says travel conditions may be difficult and families should exercise their own judgment when taking their children to school.

Families of students with disabilities who have transportation concerns can call 718-392-8855 for assistance beginning at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Up to 14 inches of snow is expected to fall in the New York area by Wednesday morning.
