FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - A Fort Campbell unit has a ceremony scheduled this week to mark its deployment to Afghanistan.

Before leaving, it’s tradition for deploying troops to “case their colors.” The “colors,” or flag, represents the unit on the battlefield, and casing it symbolizes the unit is prepared for movement.

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, known as the Strike Brigade, will case its colors Thursday afternoon at the post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.
