PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - A jury in Pine Bluff has recommended four life sentences for a man convicted of capital murder and other offenses.

In addition to the murder charge, Kevin McMiller was convicted of rape, kidnapping and breaking into a home. He was accused of stabbing to death a 39-year-old woman in 2012.

Little Rock television station KATV reports (https://is.gd/D16D2A ) that during the sentencing portion of the trial, jurors were shown video of McMiller beating up a jail guard and that McMiller laughed while the video played.

The victim was the mother of McMiller’s former girlfriend and he was enraged when the girlfriend broke up with him. Police said that after the killing, McMiller took a juvenile to a vacant home and raped her.

Hostage negotiators coaxed McMiller to free the girl.
