NEW ORLEANS (AP) - One person has been arrested and the search is on for a second suspect in the severe beating of a French Quarter musician.

Police identified the arrested man as 21-year-old Reeshawn Arnold. They were searching for 30-year-old Terrell Belvin.

Arnold was booked Thursday with one count of second-degree battery in connection with the beating of 54-year-old Doug Potter.

The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1eWnhby ) that police said Potter was carrying his bass after finishing a late Monday gig at a Bourbon Street bar when he exchanged words with a man outside another bar, who attacked him. A second man joined in the attack.

Potter’s sister told The New Orleans Advocate (https://bit.ly/1dSZ3CC ) that her brother was recovering from four hours of brain surgery and had been placed in a medically induced coma.
