MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire fire officials have identified the man who died in an apartment building fire in Manchester.

Officials say 31-year-old Charles Sullivan of Manchester was found on the third floor of the five-unit building.

State Fire Marshal William Degnan said smoke detectors alerted the other seven residents of the early Friday morning fire and they escaped safely.

Degnan said investigators are focusing on the third floor of the building, where the fire was first reported.

Firefighters say the third floor was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Degnan said the presence of working smoke detectors saved the other residents’ lives.
