KNOXVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Johnson County say one person is dead following an explosion at a trucking plant in Knoxville.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1l7eZp0 ) that 33-year-old Daniel Rice of Clarksville was killed when a tank he was working on exploded at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities say Rice and other workers were using a propane torch to loosen ball valves on the back of tanker trucks.

A sheriff’s office spokesman says the explosion occurred at the address of Quick Transports Inc. Calls to the business were not answered.

The tanker was designed to haul wastewater from drilling sites. Authorities believe the explosion happened as a result of the buildup of methane gas inside the tank.

Authorities say the explosion could be felt more than one mile away from the trucking plant.
