PETAL, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say no one was injured when a fire broke out Thursday night at the police headquarters building in Petal.

Investigators tell WDAM-TV (https://bit.ly/1ekubWH ) that a dispatcher smelled smoke at about 10 p.m. A patrol officer arriving at the building saw smoke coming from the attic area and called firefighters.

The fire was quickly extinguished. Firefighters say several rooms were damaged.

Investigators believe an electrical short was the source of the fire.

Police operations were moved temporarily to the Forrest County Dispatch Center.
