LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Sponsors are being sought for the Summer Food Service Program in Nebraska.

The program operates during the summer or any school vacation of at least three weeks in schools with a continuous school year calendar. Meals and snacks are usually served to children in such places as schools, churches, playgrounds or parks.

The program is aimed at ensuring that children in low-income areas could continue to receive meals during long school vacations, when they do not have access to school lunches or breakfasts.

For more information about sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program, contact Bev Benes with the Nebraska Department of Education at 800-731-2233 in Nebraska or 402-471-2488.
