BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - Congressman Nick Rahall is asking SuperValu to reconsider closing its food distribution center in Milton.

The Democrat says state and local officials are ready to offer resources to help the grocery chain.

Rahall asked Supervalu CEO Sam Duncan to consider available alternatives to keep the facility open.

Rahall says the efforts are a long shot, “but a shot worth taking.”

SuperValu announced earlier this month that it will close the facility in April and consolidate the operation with a facility in Pennsylvania.
