EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - A man who used a rifle last year in robbing a southwestern Illinois convenience store twice in a little more than three weeks has been ordered to spend more than 11 years in federal prison.
Twenty-one-year-old London Brown was sentenced Friday in East St. Louis. That’s where he pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery and one count of possessing a firearm to further a violent crime.
Authorities say Brown used a .22-caliber rifle in robbing a Circle K convenience store of $100 in July of last year. He then used that weapon in stealing about $360 from that business the next month.
Brown was arrested shortly after the second holdup.
Brown also was sentenced to five years of post-prison supervision.
