HOUSTON (AP) - Officials in Houston and Southeast Texas have announced various closings ahead of a cold front that is expected to bring icy conditions, including sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Houston and Southeast Texas for Tuesday.

On Monday, the Houston school district as well as others in Southeast Texas, including Beaumont and Fort Bend, cancelled classes for Tuesday.

Government offices and buildings and courts in Harris and Galveston counties will also be closed.

The Texas Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety says it will monitor roadways.

Icy conditions last Friday left freeway overpasses and bridges ice-covered and slippery, causing numerous traffic wrecks in Central and Southeast Texas.
