SEATTLE (AP) - A Seattle police officer accused of attacking a handcuffed suspect will have a misdemeanor assault charge dismissed if he avoids breaking the law for two years.
The city attorney’s office also said Tuesday that Officer Christopher Hairston will have to perform 120 hours of community service, pay court costs and avoid the victim - a man who reportedly punched Hairston’s wife. She’s also a police officer and had confronted the man in September 2012 over a report he was drinking on the campus of Seattle Central Community College.
Other officers had the suspect in handcuffs when Christopher Hairston showed up and put his hands around his neck.
KOMO reports (https://bit.ly/Mbj5w8 ) the incident was caught on video. Christopher Hairston was charged in April 2013 with assault.
