MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Robert Bentley is leaving it up to state agency directors whether to send employees home and when is the best time to do it.

Bentley’s communications director, Jennifer Ardis, says the governor has advised agency directors that it’s fine to go with a skeleton staff due to the icy weather. But she says the governor is leaving specific decisions to agency directors because they know the needs of their agencies. Several agencies had started allowing employees to leave by late morning Tuesday.

Some roads in the Montgomery area are already closed due to icy bridges.
