CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - A Central Arkansas sophomore has been named one of two athletes of the week for women’s track and field in the Southland Conference.

The league announced Wednesday that Central Arkansas’ Brooke Cassar earned women’s track and field honors for the week.

Cassar placed first and broke the school record in the mile this past week at the Arkansas State Invitational.

Cassar, who is from New South Wales, Australia, had a time of 4 minutes, 58.2 seconds. That’s the fastest time in the conference this season.

The other runner who was honored by the conference was La’Shantena Rounds from McNeese State.
