CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Congressman Nick Rahall will convene a hearing next month to examine the recent chemical spill in West Virginia.
Rahall said Wednesday the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will meet on Feb. 10 at the Kanawha County Courthouse. Rahall is the committee’s lead Democrat.
Joining him will be Pennsylvania Republican Bill Shuster, the committee’s chairman, and West Virginia Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, another member of the committee.
Rahall says he felt it was important to have a hearing in Charleston to listen to people most directly hit by the Jan. 9 spill in the Elk River. The spill tainted the water supply for 300,000 people in nine counties.
