ANAMOSA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old eastern Iowa boy was found after he ran away from school at the end of recess.

The Anamosa Police Department says Strawberry Hill Elementary School officials called a little after 3 p.m. Wednesday to report that a kindergartner had run into a stand of timber just north of the school along U.S. Highway 151. School officials say the boy ran from teachers as children were lining up to return to class.

Anamosa officers, Jones County deputies and school staffers searched the area, and a deputy found the child under a small creek bridge.

Police say he was dressed in snow clothing and was not injured. His name wasn’t released.
