BENTON, Ill. (AP) - A former business official with Carterville schools admitted he stole funds from the southern Illinois district.

Now of Grand Rapids, Mich., 31-year-old Todd Frazier pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Benton to embezzlement and theft charges.

WSIL-TV (https://bit.ly/1ba5Vco) reports Frazier admits he was working as the district’s treasurer and payroll officer when he pocketed between $70,000 and $140,000 in the fiscal year ending in June of 2010.

Authorities have alleged Frazier carried out the scheme from August 2008 through February 2012, when he was fired after an audit revealed missing funds.

Frazier faces up to a decade in prison when sentenced May 8. He also must pay restitution.
