NEW YORK (AP) - A prestigious private New York City school has apologized for screening a satirical movie in which the South won the Civil War.

The New York Times (https://nyti.ms/1ekYXT0 ) reports that the film “C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America” was shown to sophomores of the Dalton School during a presentation of history projects on Monday.

The paper says some students felt the film was insensitive to the struggle of blacks and made light of slavery.

The film has the feel of a documentary and contains commentary from fake historians. It also has altered footage including an image of a Confederate flag on the moon.

In a statement, Dalton said it regrets that the film was shown. It pledged to redouble efforts to talk to students and staff about race.
