DENVER (AP) - A lawsuit filed in federal court alleges a Denver deputy sheriff ignored an inmate’s screams during an attack.

Jamal Hunter says in a civil rights lawsuit that the deputy failed to protect him from the July 2011 attack. Court records show he was arrested in a domestic violence case.

According to the Denver Post (https://tinyurl.com/mrqf2uz ), video surveillance filed as part of the lawsuit shows the deputy, Gaynel Rumer, walking around the cellblock in the Downtown Denver Detention Center without looking directly inside the cell where Hunter was being beaten.

Rumer’s attorney, Thomas Rice, says the allegations are false.
