WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Wheeling water customers are being asked to conserve due to construction at a new water plant.
The Wheeling Water Department says the plant will be shut down while a contractor makes changes in the piping.
The department says on its website that conserving water will allow it to fill storage facilities.
Effective Thursday, customers are asked to refrain from watering lawns, washing cars, filling swimming pools and other unnecessary water uses.
The department says the conservation request is a precautionary measure. It will remain in effect until further notice.
