NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Dasia Maxwell scored 13 points and Micah Scheetz added 12 to lead Webb School of Knoxville past Northpoint Christian 58-40 on Saturday for the Tennessee Division II Class A girls state championship.
The Lady Spartans (29-4), playing in their third straight final, won their fourth state crown in the past eight seasons.
Sheetz, a sophomore named Miss Basketball finalist and tourney MVP, had two early 3-pointers on 2-for-2 shooting. She started a 20-10 fourth-quarter run, then converted a three-point play for the widest lead at 58-39.
Katie Collier had 10 points for Webb and also hit two of the Spartans’ seven 3-pointers in 12 attempts.
Ashtyn Baker had a game-high 20 points for the Lady Trojans (30-4), who cut Webb’s 10-point lead to 32-27 on free throws by Kimberlee Keltner, who had 11 points.
Northpoint, located outside Memphis in Southaven, Miss., plays in the TSSAA since it serves Tennessee students.
