OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An update on emergency repair work on the closed bridge that connects Lexington and Purcell is among the items on the agenda for the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.

The commission is to meet Monday in Oklahoma City to discuss progress on the bridge, which was closed in January after the discovery of numerous cracks. The bridge’s closure is a major inconvenience for residents of the two towns, just two miles apart, who now must drive 50 miles to get from one town to the other.

The commissioners also are expected to vote on contracts to replace two bridges on U.S. 81 north of Medford in Grant County and the State Highway 9 bridge over the Union Pacific railroad near Eufaula in McIntosh County.
