COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Strong winds are causing power outages in parts of the state including more than 6,000 customers without electricity in southwest Ohio.

Mansfield recorded a gust of wind topping 50 mph Friday afternoon, while a 64-foot brick smokestack was toppled on the campus of Otterbein University in central Ohio. No one was injured.

One person was taken to the hospital in Columbus after winds uprooted a large tree on the city’s west side.

Friday’s warm-up with temperatures in the 60s was expected to slowly give way to another cold front with temperatures falling into the 30s by Sunday with some snow possible.
