GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A 42-year-old Grand Rapids man has been arrested by officers investigating a string of large gasoline thefts.

Jeffrey Pardee was arraigned Friday on receiving and concealing stolen property, malicious destruction of property and larceny charges.

More than 40 large thefts of gasoline, diesel fuel and equipment have been reported in the Grand Rapids area since October.

Officers were staking out a business about 1 a.m. Friday when they saw a man pumping diesel fuel from a truck into van containing two large holding tanks.

They later used a search warrant to recover property stolen in two previous burglaries.
