PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Sherwood man from Mexico who has been in the United States as a legal permanent resident has been taken into custody for deportation because of a sex crime conviction.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement says 20-year-old Yahphol Valentin Patino-Cardena was arrested Wednesday and is being held at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Wash.
He was convicted in January of attempted sexual abuse of a child. He was sentenced to five years probation and required to register as a sex offender.
Patino-Cardena played soccer with the Vancouver Spartans Futbol Club.
