CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - The $4.2-million makeover of Southern Illinois University’s baseball stadium in Carbondale is finished.
The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan (https://bit.ly/1hjiC4P) reports the renovated ballpark now named after one of the Salukis’ celebrated coaches was christened on Wednesday.
The work wasn’t included in the university’s 10-year, $83-million Saluki Way improvement project announced in 2005. The university system’s governing board approved a $5 million budget in 2012 for the stadium, with $2 million coming in private donations.
