WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 13-month-old girl was found unresponsive at a day care facility in Bear and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Authorities say it happened Thursday afternoon at the One Step Ahead childcare and preschool at 432 Salem Church Road in Bear. A daycare worker tried to wake the child up from a nap around 3 p.m. and found her not breathing.

The child was taken to Christina Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day says state police who viewed a surveillance tape said there were no signs of foul play.

An autopsy is planned to determine the child’s cause of death. A telephone message left Saturday at the daycare was not immediately returned.
