LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada law enforcement officials say one person is dead after a standoff with police outside of Las Vegas on Sunday morning.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the standoff began around 9 a.m. with an armed suspect barricaded in an RV at the landing area of a skydiving company in the town of Jean.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott says around 9 a.m., the man pointed a gun at the company employees and later at police, who called in a SWAT team.

He says the suspect pointed a long gun at SWAT officers, who fired and fatally shot the suspect. No one else was injured.

Elliott was not able to confirm if the suspect was male Sunday afternoon.

He says officials are still investigating and Las Vegas Metro Police will release further details.
