DETROIT (AP) - A man charged in connection with a rape reported just prior to a blaze that gutted a 42-unit Detroit apartment building faces an arson charge in a separate house fire.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says 21-year-old Carlos Love was to be arraigned Monday on second-degree arson and preparation to burn real property in an October fire on Rogge Street.
Love and 19-year-old Dantraz Oliver-McClung were charged last week with first-degree criminal sexual conduct following a reported rape of a woman March 5 at an apartment building on Jason Street.
Authorities have said that fire was intentionally set in the west side building. At least four people were hospitalized.
So far, no one has been charged in that arson.
A preliminary examination is scheduled Tuesday in the rape case.
